Knowing What Works For Online Profit

By: Carri Wilson
An online business should produce an online profit, which is generated when a business and/or its practices are successful. Online businesses are on the rise. Usually operating from home, they are the method by which many current employees are looking for ways to rest, retire or add residual income to their pocketbooks.

Proper research into online businesses is a good starting point for anyone looking to generate an online profit. Review businesses that are successful, but also pay attention to ones that have failed. There is crucial information in each of them.

Home Based Online Profit

Home based businesses that guarantee an online profit are:
1)    Freelancing – writing, editing, or copywriting for either self or an agency. It is the ability to use a specific skill set to produce income. Income is generated per article or via revenue sharing.
2)    Blogging – conducting or participating in online conversations between multiple individuals. Income is generated per click, due to ads being placed on the blog.
3)    Personal trainer – a person who trains individuals for reasons of health and wellness. Personal trainers set their own payment grids to reflect the amount of work they've done with their clients.
4)    Coaching/consulting – the practice of coaching, counseling, encouraging or guiding individuals through life experiences, events or circumstances. Payment is set based on time and the client's need.
Each of the above businesses garner revenue. A person's skill set, personal desires and income needs determine which might work best for that individual.

Knowing What Works Best

The idea is to stick with what works for you. Know what your skills and talents are. Determine the audience that best hears what you have to offer and work within that parameter.
Make sure to assess yourself first. Ask questions like-- what are my strengths/weaknesses? What environment works best for me? What area am I truly passionate about?
Answers to these questions will aid in determining level of success. Also, pay attention to the needs and demands of your clients and/or audience. Their desires are going to be important to your practice. Make every attempt to meet those needs.
Using Good Business Practices
Use good business practices. Remember the ones that you've always heard such as the customer is always right and remember the bottom line?

   - Even if the customers or clients aren't right, don't let them know that
   - Make them feel like you have their best interest at heart
   - Do what you say you're going to do
   - Meet deadlines
   - Work hard
   - Deliver quality

Also, whatever the bottom line is for your business, don't forget it! If it's money, make decisions that are going to deliver the money. If it's the client or the customer, make decisions that will directly affect them. Doing so, will not only meet the goal of the business but will deliver a much anticipated return for your business, thus producing a profit.
